About Me

At the time of writing this, I'm 45, however my race age is 46.  It's a triathlon thing...  you might not understand.  :)

I've been somewhat athletically inclined the majority of my life.  While I've never been fast at anything my strengths are, well, strength, coordination and flexibility. For some reason I decided after doing my first triathlon as part of a relay team in 2002 that I was hooked -- though at around 300 lbs, triathlon was definitely a challenge, to say the least.  In spite of my weight I've always been active, cycling, tap dancing (don't laugh, it's true!).

After having my Daughter in 2004 I became Type II Diabetic.  After long, hard consideration over the course of a couple years, I decided that Gastric Bypass would be the appropriate path for me.  My Doctor said it would eradicate my Diabetes, and it did.  I  haven't had a shot of Insulin or medication since the day before surgery.  Life is much better.  To date, I maintains loss of over 160 lbs.

So with the massive weight loss, I decided to take the plunge and have my loose skin removed.  By far, this was one of the most challenging (and painful) things I ever elected put myself through.  I had surgery May 15th, 2013 with Dr. John Lo Monaco -- in my opinion a leader in massive weight loss reconstructive surgery.

What now?  I still have work to do and I need goals to focus on to get it done, so it's Ironman Florida in 2017!!!  You see, sometimes you gotta choose a goal so big that you have to become the person you want to be achieve it. :)
